X ANNI
Five, glass-enclosed letters in the drawers of the catalog cabinet hide their contents - stories, secrets, dreams, emotions and thoughts, the burden of the individual's decisions. They remain a secret for the next 10 (X) years, and by the act of breaking the glass, they return into the hands of their author. The work imagined as a form of time capsule presents the act of releasing one's own anxieties, it is a new beginning and growth.
In addition to the time capsule on display, the second part of the work allows the audience to compose their own letter. During the exhibition, audience members are invited to write a letter, to leave their contact information and to place the letter in a mailbox. At the end of the exhibition, the letters are placed in one drawer of the time capsule, then the glass covering of the draw is labeled with the date and the name of the exhibition. This artwork allows an individual to look to the future as well as return to the past. Each letter is a different view of today’s situation. The records he hides become evidence of a time that will go down in history.
Paradoxically, by storing our anxieties beyond the masses themselves, we free ourselves, begin again, and grow.
