MEMORIES

Installation made of a large number of ceramic knives - of different shapes and sizes. The knives are copies of the original knives found in my grandmother's house. When I was a child, my grandmother looked after (me and my brother). We lived in the house with her and her husband for a while, and later we moved next door. Stubborn wife, even more stubborn husband. They often fought, and these fights often turned into death threats - so this sentence was often uttered:

„TAKE THIS KNIFE AND KILL ME WITH IT.“

She also treated us that way. Whenever I didn't listen to her, complaints started. Which somehow turned into her threats of suicide.

I didn't create this  artwork to talk bad about her. As we would say - she did not know how to behave differently. She was also old, and I believe that's how she was brought up as well, unfortunately. Out of need for forgiveness, in this artwork, which is the second in a series of artworks dedicated to the process of forgiveness, I forgive her and him, especially myself and all my feelings that have been present for years. By renouncing, but also by accepting certain feelings and memories, I create spaces for the return of those hidden moments from my childhood - as it should have been.
